Crossmember : G-Body

top right - Before you pull out the crossmember, mark the area where you expect the head pipe to pass under. Make this mark kind of big, so that if your estimations are off, it'll be big enough to cover it up.

top left - Cut a piece of channel iron long enough to extend past your planned cut. This is the thing that will replace the lost stregnth from cutting out the bottom.

bottom right - I cut holes in the back of the new support so I could tack the support before I welded the support completely up.

bottom left - Weld the support to the crossmember. Spot welds would probably work, but it was welded all the way on mine.

bottom right - Bust out the cutting torch and cut out the area that you marked.

top left - This is the relative position of the brace relative to the mounting point. Just an idea of what it looks like.

top right - This is the amount of extra clearance. There is about 1.5" of extra clearence once you grind the cut-out down to the weld.

bottom left - This is what the crossmember will look like when it's installed with a 3" pipe running under it. There is enough clearance, just don't drop the car too much and don't ramble too quickly over speed bumps. But if you choose to use normal size, 2.5" pipe, then there is tons of room.

top - These are the front supports along with the stock anti-roll bar. The two sets of braces terminate at the same place in the frame.

middle - This is my motor, Hawaii's good because we have strong winds here, so no one really cares about emissions. Also note, no heater core, who needs one when extremely cold is anything in the 60's

bottom - These are the the dynomax ceramic coated headers. Their fit is excellent and it has reasonable spark plug access and it doesn't impede the dropping of the starter.

side - This is the mounting angle of the rear shock when you intall an A body rear end into a G body without any mods. Notice that the shock is slightly leaning back and that the stud that the shock mounts to is slightly pointed upwards. It seems to handle alright though.
